Hi, I'm Kristi and I like to bake. Actually, I love to bake! My passion for baking started when I was little and I would help (maybe it was more like watching and eating the goods, but that's an important job, right?) my mom bake all kinds of goodies for the holidays. As I got older my love for baking grew and I especially loved, heck I still do, baking from scratch. One day in 2010, after experimenting making croissants I told my husband that my dream was to one day open a bakery and from that day on my dream became a reality! It was really just like that, and Kristi G's Cupcakes was a real thing, well, out of our kitchen at least. With God's grace, the help of my amazing and supportive husband, my mother-in-law and our kids we opened our retail store in what was then, Vista Ridge Mall (now renamed Music City Mall) in October 2011. In 2013, not gonna lie, we were struggling. Close to ending our dream and closing our doors, my husband saw an ad for reality show and we were lucky enough to land it. It was a bakery rescue show, by Buddy "The Cake Boss" Valastro called "Bakery Boss". The hour long episode featured Buddy bringing our little bakery back to life! It was a true blessing, the show aired in December 2013 on TLC and it's been amazing ever since. Besides baking I love to give back! I was always taught it was better to give than to receive and I take that to heart. It was important to me to open our bakery in the city I grew up in (Go Fighting Farmers!), and community involvement is important. One charity that is near to my heart is Kyle's Place - Journey to Dream. Kyle's place helps homeless teens get back on their feet and gives them a place to stay. I love that we get to bake the birthday cakes for each teen that resides there, because everyone needs a birthday cake! I also, love working with LISD's Focus On The Future program. This program teaches job skills to kids with learning learning disabilities. Every week I personally work with one student teaching job skills required to work in a bakery. I tell anyone that will listen that God has blessed me and I hope to be a blessing to others! But, as they say "it takes a village", I couldn't do it all alone I'm so lucky to have an amazing staff! Christy our pastry chef has been with us since July 2015. She went Le Cordon Blue, she brings a wide array of experience and expertise. Christy our decorator (you're catching on now, we're all named Kristi!) she has been with us since January 2016 and has been doing cakes for 20+ years! Thanks for checking out our website and if you have any questions or suggestions please drop us an email. I hope you stop by and if you do, please say "Hi", I'd love to meet you! - Love & Hugs, Kristi
